Choosing a Lifestyle Vacation in 3 Easy Questions

Lifestyle Vacation on your mind? Read on…

We receive calls and inquiries all the time from couples who are interested in taking an all-inclusive lifestyle vacation for the very first time. Perhaps they have been in the lifestyle for a while and have attended local clubs and parties, but have never been able to travel until now. Or maybe they travel all the time and they are finally ready for a daring, sexy, kids-free experience. Either way, I can generally help them decide what kind of lifestyle vacation is best for them with 3 simple questions.

Are you a beach person or a boat person?

People generally have strong opinions about cruises and if they get seasick or otherwise are uncomfortable on a boat, that’s a deal breaker. On the upside, a cruise gives you freedom to sample at least a few different ports, with different culture, food, and activities at each. And did we mention the wild sea day parties at the pool???!!!

So, if they say “boat,” the next question I ask is: luxury or party?

If they say “luxury,” a 5-star trip with Shoes Only Travel, such as the Menage a Asia on Paul Gauguin, is their best option. If they say “party,” a Couples Cruise takeover like the Independence of the Seas in November 2014 or the fast approaching Celebrity Century cruise in May out of LA is the way to go. These are lifestyle vacations on a big scale, with nearly 4000 people expected on the Independence cruise and around half that number on the Century.

The trick to cruise takeovers is in the timing. With only a few options in the year for true lifestyle takeover cruises, you have to find a cruise that fits in to your vacation schedule. So my final question is simply this: can you join us on this week from LA, that week from Ft. Lauderdale, etc. ?

Back to the original question…If they say “beach,” my follow-up is basically the same: luxury or party?

If they say “luxury,” it usually means they expect 4-star or above accommodations, excellent choices in liquor and food at the resort, premium service, and an up-scale clientele. For a lifestyle vacation at an all-inclusive resort, this really only leaves Desire Riviera Maya and Desire Pearl, both located in Mexico, south of Cancun.

My final question for “beach/luxury” vacationers is a repeat: even better luxury at a smaller resort (Desire Pearl) or a larger resort with a bit more of a party scene (Desire RM)?

Both resorts are great values, have great food and drink, and you can try out the facilities at the other for free. But there are a few differences in the two and we do hear that the nightlife is more active at Desire Riviera Maya. (Caveat: there is another small luxury resort near Playa del Carmen, Hidden Beach, though it is more of a nudist vacation spot.)

Back to the follow-up above… if the couple says “party” instead of “luxury” I say: mild or wild?

Mild lifestyle resorts include Temptation and Grand Oasis Viva. These have topless pools and sexy theme parties at night, but do not allow public sexual activity. Both are in Cancun and while Grand Oasis Viva is a nicer resort, Temptation really nails the sexy party scene. Meanwhile, there really is only one option for those looking for a truly wild lifestyle vacation at an all-inclusive resort: the infamous Hedonism II in Jamaica.

There you have it, friends. I can name that lifestyle vacation tune in 3 notes. Don’t believe me? Give me a call at 603-384-3297 and ask for vacation planning assistance from Kevin. He’ll be the guy with a smile on his face.

On July 4th, we celebrate American Independence Day. But this week I’m encouraging my fellow kinksters from around the globe to celebrate their independence from the vanilla world by booking a cabin on Freedom of the Seas, Nov. 10-17, 2013. It’s the biggest party of the year and you’ll be free to do pretty much whatever you damn well please on board. 🙂

P.S. We have the last Promenade Cabin on Deck 6 available on a first come, first serve basis. Call Kevin at 678-290-1424 extension 102 to claim it!

What I do ten days before a cruise

It’s a little early to pack and way too late to add 20 pounds of muscle or lose twenty excess pounds, so what can you do 10 days before a cruise?

1. Complete your paperwork. Finish your Set Sail pass, locate your passport, and finalize all travel arrangements, hotel, transfer to the dock, etc.

2. Look up the dress code and party schedule to plan your outfits. Here’s the schedule for Jewel of the Seas:

Jan 28 Tampa, Resort Wear, No Theme Dress Sexy
Jan 29 At Sea, Formal Night, Sexy Pajama Party
Jan 30 Grand Cayman, Dress to Impress, 80’s Night
Jan 31 Playa del Carmen, Dress to Impress, New! Fetish NIght
Feb 1 At Sea, Dress to Impress, New! Lady in Red

So I know I will need a fancy suit for Formal Night, a few nice shirts and slacks for Dress to Impress dinners, some sexy underwear for Pajama night, some neon colors for ’80s night, leather pants and a collar for Fetish Night, and a red tie (for example) for Lady in Red night. Time to check the closet!

3. Get a base tan. Without going overboard, I tan 2-3 times per week for 2-3 weeks for 5-7 minutes in the normal tanning booth at my gym. Just to bring out a healthy look. It may be Winter now, but in ten days you’ll be on a beach.

4. Take care of your body. Cut down on excess carbs and alcohol, maybe do some extra cardio at the gym, get a haircut and decide on a personal grooming strategy, and get plenty of sleep starting now!

5. Introduce yourselves to other couples who are attending via local swinger forums and websites, such as SLS. Make plans to get to know them but bear in mind that any firm plans made for during the cruise will quickly change due to the total freakout once on board! What do I mean? I mean, you will have ADHD the minute the cruise starts and you will lose all sense of time, place, and purpose. It’s sensory overload. Stay flexible.

6. Make business cards with your names, room number, a pic, and online handle. You’ll meet a lot of people who you want to see again but you may never have the chance if you don’t give them something to remember you by!

7. Talk with your partner about your comfort limits and expectations. Begin the communication now. When attending Lifestyle events such as a cruise, our motto is, “Talk before. Talk during. Talk after.”

8. Look at the port excursions to get excited about your options. We have Grand Cayman and Playa del Carmen. Scuba diving? Nude beach? Booze cruise? You can do it all, but it helps to plan ahead.

9. Come up with a vanilla itinerary to tell your family, friends, co-workers. Is there a vanilla cruise leaving from the same port on the same day? (This was the case in November, 2012) If so, perfect. That’s all they need to know 🙂

10. Spend some quality time with your partner. Enjoy your “you time” now. You will have much less of it on the cruise. See points #5 and #7.
