Savvy cruisers will book Freedom 2013 in the next 7 days…

If you were a part of the epic Freedom of the Seas 2012 cruise you know what I mean when I say that Freedom 2013 will be the biggest, sexiest, and totally wildest lifestyle trip of the entire year. Hands down, it’s the biggest gathering of lifestyle couples in the world. And you can join the action this year!

But to get the best possible cabin, I highly recommend that you reserve one prior to April 6. Why? Because there could be a run on cabins from all the couples on the Brilliance of the Seas cruise (happening April 6-13). Don’t miss out on the few remaining suites and balconies — book your cabin today!

What I do ten days before a cruise – Brilliance 2013 version

(This is a copied post from Jan. 18 prior to the Jewel cruise, with a few specific updates for the Brilliance cruise.)

It’s a little early to pack and way too late to add 20 pounds of muscle or lose twenty excess pounds, so what can you do 10 days before a cruise?

1. Complete your paperwork. Finish your Set Sail pass, locate your passport, and finalize all travel arrangements, hotel, transfer to the dock, etc.

2. Look up the dress code and party schedule to plan your outfits. Here’s the schedule for Brilliance of the Seas:

April 6: San Juan, Puerto Rico. Resort Wear — 70′s Disco Dance Party
April 7: At Sea. Formal Night — Sexy Pajama Party
April 8: Curacao. Dress to Impress in Blue — Rumble in the Jungle
April 9: Aruba. No Theme!
April 10: At Sea. Dress to Impress in Purple — Mardi Gras Ball
April 11: St Kitts. Fashionable Formal — Naughty School Girl
April 12: St. Maarten. Pink Night — Think Pink Night

So I know I will need a fancy suit for Formal Night, a few nice shirts and slacks for Dress to Impress dinners, some sexy underwear for Pajama night, some tight pants and big collared shirt for ’70s Disco night, something “wild” for Rumble in the Jungle, a mask and beads for the Mardi Gras Ball, etc. Time to check the closet!

3. Get a base tan. Without going overboard, I tan 2-3 times per week for 2-3 weeks for 5-7 minutes in the normal tanning booth at my gym. Just to bring out a healthy look. It may be early spring now, but in ten days you’ll be on a beach.

4. Take care of your body. Cut down on excess carbs and alcohol, maybe do some extra cardio at the gym, get a haircut and decide on a personal grooming strategy, and get plenty of sleep starting now!

5. Introduce yourselves to other couples who are attending via local swinger forums and websites. Make plans to get to know them but bear in mind that any firm plans made for during the cruise will quickly change due to the total freakout once on board! What do I mean? I mean, you will have ADHD the minute the cruise starts and you will lose all sense of time, place, and purpose. It’s sensory overload. Stay flexible.

6. Make business cards with your names, room number, a pic, and your online handle. You’ll meet a lot of people who you want to see again but you may never have the chance if you don’t give them something to remember you by!

7. Talk with your partner about your comfort limits and expectations. Begin the communication now. When attending Lifestyle events such as a cruise, our motto is, “Talk before. Talk during. Talk after.”

8. Look at the port excursions to get excited about your options. We have Aruba, Curacao, St. Kitts and St. Maarten. Scuba diving? Nude beach? Booze cruise? You can do it all, but it helps to plan ahead.

9. Come up with a vanilla itinerary to tell your family, friends, co-workers. Is there a vanilla cruise leaving from the same port on the same day? (This was the case in November, 2012) If so, perfect. That’s all they need to know 🙂

10. Spend some quality time with your partner. Enjoy your “you time” now. You will have much less of it on the cruise. See points #5 and #7.

Maho Beach, St. Maarten: the craziest beach you’ll ever visit

One of the more interesting beaches I’ve ever seen is on St. Maarten, one of the four great ports in the upcoming Brilliance of the Seas cruise out of Puerto Rico, April 6-13.

Maho Beach, aka the airport beach, has the triple benefit of being a topless beach, having a beach bar that gives free drinks to topless ladies, and, oh by the way, THE PLANES LAND NEXT TO THE BEACH!

Despite the best efforts of the authorities to caution against such behavior, onlookers have the time of their lives getting blown head over heels into the surf by the jet blast. Seriously, be careful topless friends!

Come join us for the ride of your life! It’s not too late to book a cabin on this amazing 7 night adventure through the Southern Caribbean!

Dress and theme parties explained

One of the most common questions we get from first time cruisers is concerning the theme nights and parties on board. Do people dress up for the themes? For costumes, how sexy is too sexy? What happens where on the ship?

Here’s the short answer: Yes, the majority of people dress up in some way, and lots of people really go all out every night. There’s no such thing as too sexy or revealing as long as your costume is “street legal” in the common areas of the ship (think pasties and underwear). It really is a nightly costume party, ship-wide, with the majority of the action on the Radiance class ships (Brilliance of the Seas, Jewel of the Seas) happening in the disco on Deck 13. On the Freedom of the Seas, the action is all over with a lot of excitement in the Promenade, by the pool (weather pending), and in the nightclubs.

I always say, “Ladies, bring a lot of shoes, lingerie, and costume accessories. Guys, bring a few classy accessories and basics to work with.”

Here are the dress suggestions and theme nights for the Brilliance cruise:

April 6: San Juan, Puerto Rico. Resort Wear — 70’s Disco Dance Party
April 7: At Sea. Formal Night — Sexy Pajama Party
April 8: Curacao. Dress to Impress in Blue — Rumble in the Jungle
April 9: Aruba. No Theme!
April 10: At Sea. Dress to Impress in Purple — Mardi Gras Ball
April 11: St Kitts. Fashionable Formal — Naughty School Girl
April 12: St. Maarten. Pink Night — Think Pink Night

Notice there are two different suggestions for each night.

Basically, the first is a suggestion for cocktail hour and dinner and the theme night is the post-dinner party suggestion. Literally, many people do a costume change between dinner and dancing/drinking/playing.

The themes and dinner suggestions are sometimes related (Formal night to sexy pajamas, dress to impress in purple to Mardi Gras Ball) so it can be as simple as grabbing some beads and a feather boa after dinner to add to a purple dress you’re already wearing. And when it says “Formal,” it means formal. Think tuxes, suits, cocktail and dinner dresses. Like a wedding or a prom night.

In fact, Royal Caribbean offers professional photography services, especially on those formal nights. And the Couples Cruise staff provides sexy photography services for those who wish to be photographed (by signing a release and wearing a wristband).

Bottom line: prepare for the theme nights and pack accordingly. You’ll be so happy you did!

What’s your preferred BOAT size?

TheSwingerCruise.com has partnered with a number of excellent lifestyle travel companies on past, present, and future lifestyle cruises.

These have included the small ship, ultra luxury class (from 100-300 passengers):

SeaDream’s Mega Yacht in the Caribbean

SeaDream Mega Yacht

And the Paul Gauguin in Tahiti.

We also have traveled on mid-size ships (approx 2000 passengers):

Brilliance of the Seas by Royal Caribbean (same class as Radiance and Jewel), sailing out of Puerto Rico in April and out of Tampa in January, 2014.

BrillianceOfTheSeas01

And the Celebrity Century, sailing in May 2014 out of LA.

And, finally, we have the 3rd largest ship in the world, the Freedom of the Seas, sailing out of Orlando in November.

Freedom-of-the-Seas--in-Hamburg

Each of these sizes represents unique challenges and opportunities for lifestyle vacations. To those travelers who have joined us on past trips, what are some of the positives and negatives of each size ship? Does SIZE matter??? 🙂
